Here are a few sentences from a WIP
A young thief, Ethan James, gets more than he bargained for after stealing a priceless relic. He is forced to work with Ash Stephanos, an expert on Egyptian antiquities, to free himself from the grasp of a vindictive ancient God.
“Zephyr,” Ash whispered as he stepped outside, the curtains billowing around him. Scented oil from the hanging brass lanterns teased his senses, flickering flames danced in the breeze. The moon cast a soft glow as he walked the familiar path to the beach and dug his bare toes into the cool wet sand. Like so many nights before, he looked to the east towards the land of his birth. “Just a glimpse,” he said to himself in vain. A sad laugh bubbled from his lips. Even he was incapable of seeing across the Mediterranean.

“You're insatiable.”
Christian laughed content to hold Jacob in his arms. The moon climbed higher
providing intermittent beams of light in the tower. A slight breeze whistled
through the treetops. Jacob leaned his head back to rest on Christian’s
shoulder.
“Look, Ursa Major, and
there, Cassiopeia.” Jacob pointed out the constellations in the autumn sky.
“Don’t forget the Little
Bear.” Christian lifted Jacob's hand and traced the imaginary tail.
“I've stood here before but
never have I enjoyed the view so much.” Jacob leaned into him.

Beautiful Deception.
Christian checked his pocket watch, not yet three thirty. He leaned down and roused Jacob from his slumber. “I must go. I won’t have your reputation spoiled. I promised myself I’d be gone before the cock crows.” He waggled his brows at the pun then kissed the sleep warm face. “I shall call at Literati, shall we say three?” At Jacob’s nod he kissed him again then groaned, forcing himself from Jacob’s grasp.

Will pulled a chair out and sat, his gaze locked on Christian’s
reflection in the mirror. “The novelty has worn off a little quicker this time?”
Will leaned back and propped his feet on the rickety side table, then took a sip
of brandy.
“I have become soft as an old woman in my dotage.” Christian raised his glass in a salute.
“And grumpy,” Will added over the top of his glass before taking another sip.
“Perhaps I’ve overstayed my welcome, became complacent. Maybe I need a good war to hone my senses back to the hunter, the monster that lurks inside.”
